Mastaba

Mastaba

Description

The word comes from Arabic and refers to the tombs of the nobles from the Old Egyptian Kingdom. Each mastaba contains one or more burial shafts where the deceased were laid to rest, as well as numerous other chambers connected by a labyrinth of corridors. It was built in a precise manner, following a sacred ritual.
